About Our Church

St. Matthew Lutheran Church, serving over 200 families in the Farmington Valley of Connecticut, is a member congregation of the New England Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).  You are invited to worship with us and to share in the many programs of our congregation.  Should you wish to join this community of faith, speak to Pastor Julie.

A very real part of our ministry together includes our care for one another. We gather to worship with words of prayer and praise and thanksgiving to our God. St. Matthew strives to grow also in acts of welcome, learning, friendship, fellowship and love.

Two morning worship services at 8:30 and 11:00, a pipe organ, Sunday School and Sanctuary Choirs, and children’s sermons enrich our corporate worship life. Nursery care is available during both services.

Through the leadership of our Church Council, committees and working groups seek to enrich the lives of our members and also to minister to the needs of the surrounding community.

A complete Christian education program is offered in our Sunday School, with Christ-centered programs for preschool through high school aged children. Children’s ministry and music, as well as many fellowship events, provide opportunities to grow in our relationships as we center our life in worship, learning, and service. Adult Forum offers studies on Biblical and religious topics in an informal setting. In addition, a Confirmation program, study groups, and a variety of special interest programs further the teaching of the Word.

The Youth Ministry program involves our young people in grades 7 through 12. As a ministry with and by youth, it provides opportunities for fellowship, learning, and service, both on a local level and at gatherings of the larger church.

Welcome to our community. If we can be of any assistance to you, please feel free to contact us.  We look forward to getting to know you!
