Children & Youth
Sunday School meets throughout the school year from 9:40-10:40AM for pre-school through sixth grade students. Starting on Rally Day Sunday Sept. 12, 2021 we will be meeting in-person again. Sunday School typically begins with music led by Richard Silbereis, St. Matthew’s Director of Music. Then children go to one of three classrooms: Preschool/Kindergarten, 1st-3rd Grade, and 4th-6th Grade. The Pre-K class uses a Montessori based curriculum called Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. It is a fabulous way of growing spiritually for children from our trained catechists (teachers). The older classes use a curriculum called “Dig-In” which focuses on Bible stories and themes.
Children lead worship and sing at 11:00AM the third Sunday of every month and participate in a yearly Christmas Pageant the third Sunday of December. We also have several Sundays each year when we combine with our adult education class for inter-generational Mission Sundays where we pack items for those in need or some other type of service project.
If you are interested in enrolling your child, please contact the office, (860) 673-3301, or email Pastor Brian at email@example.com.
Children are a valued part of our worshiping community! Children’s sermons in weekly worship educate and engage people of all ages on the biblical text. Children are invited to participate at their level in worship, and may take a break in the nursery when needed.
Confirmation is a two year program of service and learning geared for students in 7th and 8th grade. We meet on Monday evenings from 7pm - 8pm.
